PSVR v2 (CUH-ZVR2) makes a few minor changes to the original PSVR v1 (CUH-ZVR1) model, streamlining its cabling and integrating its stereo headphones into the headset itself. The biggest change, is to the Processor Unit, which allows HDR passthrough when playing on a compatible 4K screen.

PlayStation VR Content on PS4 Pro:

PS4 Pro is compatible with PS VR headset, Processor Unit, and all PS VR content. PS4 Pro will adapt PS VR content to 4K level if using the CUH-ZVR2 model only. When you play PS VR content it will be standard PS VR definition on the CUH-ZVR1 model.

Non-PS VR Content (Cinematic Mode):

When you play HDR or 4K content through your PlayStation VR headset, the picture quality is limited to the capabilities of the PS VR headset screen and the PS VR Processor Unit as follows:

Non-PS VR content has HDR and 4k restrictions on the CUH-ZVR1 model. With the headset ON, ZVR1 models' definition will be restricted to 1080p and not HDR or 4K for both TV and headset. Resolution will be 2160p YUV420 and not HDR on the TV with the headset OFF. The TV with Processor Unit bypassed will display 2160p RGB and HDR on the TV only.

The CUH-ZVR2 model supports pass through for regular 1080p signals and also supports 2160p (UHD or ‘4K’) content in YUV 420 color format at up to 60 Hz from a PlayStation 4 Pro.
